The five
principles of Reiki were adopted by Dr. Usui from the Meiji Emperor for
the process of deep meditation leading to the healthy and happy life.
Practicing these five principles in daily life are can help the Reiki
practitioner to find guidance for every situation.
What are the
principles of Reiki?
I. Just for
today, I will live in the Attitude of Gratitude.
This principle says if you thank for all that you possess, I will get
provided with what I need. We often forget to thank for good things we
have, which result in our loss of the blessings we did not appreciate.
This principle reminds us to thank and be grateful for all good things
in life. Our natural intended state is one of abundance of all things
positive-spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and through healing
ourselves with Reiki and being thereby in a constant state of
gratitude, we can constantly come closer and closer to our intended
natural state- both internally and externally. The will to be able to
thank for all the things you have can be increased and quickened by the
adequate knowledge and empowerment of Reiki.
II. Just for
today, I will let go of all my worry.
This principle focuses on the fact of inability to undo what has
happened or what has already has taken place. We all have to understand
that we cannot go back in future and change things. Also we are not
capable to see what is in store for us. Therefore, it is significant to
comprehend that energy, worry, thought, etc. that is spent on something
that has already happened, or something that may never come to pass is
wasted energy.
Any nature of
worry is meaningless and completely pointless. This principle teaches
us to live in the present, the present moment. Struggling to control a
situation just creates an energy cycle which makes things worse.
Things will be easy is a Reiki practitioner understands the importance
of today, the present. It would be a waste to spare a single thought on
worrying about what happened yesterday or what will happen in the
future. If all sorts of worries are renounced then one can live in the
present and enjoy it to the fullest. Believing in what happens happens
for the best is the simplest way of letting go of all the worries.
III. Just for today, I will not be angry.
Thinking that this goal - not being angry just for today makes the
principle looks easy and also achievable. We all face situations which
are out of our control which make us feel helpless and impotent, which
result in anger. Angry person does very stupid things to himself and
the person around him. It is the most selfish act one could do. By
getting angry on someone or the situation it does not do any good to
one. It just gives way to negativity to take control over ourselves.
When anger takes control one faces all kinds of problems, mental and
physical both.
Once the Reiki practitioner learns to give vent to anger in the
positive direction he has gained freedom. Eternal freedom: which will
do good to the person in both physical and mental way.
To eliminate anger we have to understand the reason of anger and its
origin. We have to practice to take control in our hands and not let it
controlled by anger. It is hard but remember it is not impossible.
IV. Just for today, I will be honest.
This principle again reminds you of the importance of being honest and
loyal to yourself and to your work. A quality worker is someone who
does his or her work at the right time and with the best ability. By
acting on these principles one would never have to worry about what
could be done or what should be have done it better.
To be the possessor of healthy body and mind it is required to be free
from lies, deceits and pretence. Doing our own work honestly and with
integrity means we are reliable and our words and action can be relied
upon. We should do what we feel like doing and we can be honest at. If
we are dissatisfied with the job we will not able to feel good about
us. We all should have our priorities straight and do what brings
happiness. Happiness brings good healthy and better life. It is not
only about money or working it is about working with integrity.
Fulfilling work in a positive environment will certainly facilitate
more health, happiness and success in a person.
V. Just for today, I will honor ever living thing.
By disrespecting a living soul one would gain bad karma for rest of the
life. It is well heard of that "what goes around comes around." If we
do good deeds we will be rewarded in exchange of it and if we do
something bad or evil we will be responsible for the consequences in
form of punishment.
The word "honor" means to respect somebody or something as they deserve
your love, care and gratitude. It will be easy to follow of if think it
in term of that we should respect others just because we want to get
the same kind of respect from that person. If we do not want to get
mistreated by someone then we should remind ourselves to not disrespect
the other person or for that matter any living soul.
We should respect and give honor to our parents of one simple fact that
they brought us to this world. They gave us a physical body and
opportunity to learn several things during our existence on the earth.
We should our respect to the elders because of their openness of their
wisdom and knowledge which gives us lessons to avoid many failures in
our lives. Our teachers deserve our honor because of their unselfish
act of introducing us to the world of knowledge. Without their efforts
our live would have be ignorant and unaware.
By following these five principles with Reiki for today will bring joy
and fill our lives with moments of happiness.
